The 1901 census shows Charles Edwin, aged 5 living in a farm cottage with an aunt and uncle in Clifton-on-Dunsmore.   The uncle William Edwin Gurney, born in Winwick was aged 40 and employed as a farm labourer.   The aunt, Sarah Elizabeth had been born in Dunton Bassett.

Charles Edwin was baptised in Winwick on 24/5/1896.

The 1911 census shows Charles Edwin aged 15 residing at Ashby Magna Lodge, Lutterworth with his parents Joseph Boswell Gurney, house servant, Ellen Gurney and two sisters.   He was employed on farm work.

The only entry I was able to find in military records was that he enlisted on a short service engagement on 26/2/1918 with the Royal Marine Light Infantry, Chatham Division.

His mother died in March, 1942.

His father died on 21/3/1948.

The Probate Record reports that Charles Edwin Gurney died on 30/9/1985 while living at 27 Crown Hills Avenue, Leicestershire.
