In 1901 the Nicholls family were living on the High Street, West Haddon. At that time the Head of the Household, William Nicholls Jnr, an agricultural labourer, shared the home with his wife Elizabeth, two sons and three daughters. Charles, baptised Charles William on 6th October, 1889 was the eldest.
In 1911 the family had moved to Manor Lodge Farm, West Haddon. At that time the family consisted of two sons and four daughters. Charles and his father were both described as “waggoners on farm.” The 1911 Census showed that a total of twelve children had been born in the marriage, eight were living, four had died.
I was unable to find any military record in respect of Charles nor have I discovered what he did or where he lived on his return home.
