Fred Muddiman

There is no record in the baptisms to show the baptism of Fred Muddiman.   Research shows he was born in December 1889 in West Haddon.   He was the brother of Leonard, also mentioned among the 100 Heroes.

Jabez, Fred’s father was born in Long Buckby in 1838.   There are different entries as to when he died.   One shows his death on 29/1/1912 aged 73.   Another entry shows his death in March, 1912 aged 74.

Jabez married twice.   His first marriage was in October 1880.   He then married Fred’s mother, Sarah Ann West (born West Haddon) in 1881.

The 1901 Census entry shows the Muddiman family living in Guilsborough Road, West Haddon. with Jabez, head of the household aged 63 working as an ordinary farm labourer, Sarah his wife aged 49, and their family all born in West Haddon, Ernest (J) aged 22 a horse-keeper on a farm,  Frank (Frances Alfred) aged 15 a shoemaker, Lizzie (Elizabeth May)

Fred and Leonard (Horace) aged 8 born West Haddon 30/3/1893.

The 1911 Census does not show an address.   The household then consisted of Jabez, then aged 73 an OAP,  his wife Sarah aged 59, Frank aged 25, a nurseryman, Lizzie aged 23, a domestic servant, Fred aged 21 a farm labourer and Leonard, aged 18, a nurseryman.

I was unable to find any military record, record of marriage or the date of his death
