Hubert Thomas Garrett

The 1901 census shows Hubert Thomas Garrett living at 149 St James Road aged 21 working as a servant.   He was born in Winwick in the July to September quarter of 1879 (Daventry 3b 121).

He was married on 5/6/1909 while living at 48 Selly Oak Road, Kings Norton..

The 1911 census shows him still living at the above address although it is shown as Bourneville not Selly Oak.  He was working as a gardener.   Living with him was his wife Charlotte (nee Dunkley) aged 31 and their 8 month old child Stanley Thomas.

Hubert Thomas Garrett joined on a Short Service engagement on 11/12/1915.   He joined the Battery RFA Royal Reserve Brigade Artillery, regimental number 162530.   This was approved on 4/9/1916, joining at the age of 36.   He was discharged on 26/3/1918 as “Medically unfit.   No longer physically fit for war service”.

I was unable to find any record of his death.   There is, however, an entry for the death of a Charlotte Garrett in March 1961 at the age of 80(Warwick 9c 525).
